Really Big Tree

This week, we returned to Pinnacles National Monument to go on a nice 5 hour hike. We started by going up to High Peaks, then over to the other side of the park to Chalone Creek and finally coming back through the Balconies Cliff, with a short detour through the Balconies Cave.

Pinnacles

Continuing our exploration of California parks, this week Billy, Kim and I went to Pinnacles National Monument. This was one of the best hikes I have been on recently. We did a quick 2.5 hour loop which took us to the peak giving a fantastic view along the way. I have several pictures from the hike that I will process and post in the California gallery.

This picture was taken on our ascent. The trail zig-zags back and forth to the summit.

Henry Coe

Kim, Billy and I went to Henry Coe state park today for a little bit of hiking. At one point we had to jump over a stream, hence the picture.

B&W Golden Gate

Billy is here! So to show him a bit more of the Bay Area, Kim and I took him to Muir woods and on the way back we stopped to look at the Golden Gate Bridge. The sun had set by then and the bridge was lit up quite nicely. In post processing, I thought the colored photo looked a little boring, so I turned into a monochrome, and gave it a very "noir-ish" look.

Bird of Paradise in Santa Barbara

Welcome to the new PotW. This time I will hopefully keep this up-to-date. Ah winter in California, the sun is out, the weather is nice and the Birds of Paradise are doing... well... whatever it is that birds of paradise do. California agrees with Kim.
