Higher Rez Moon

For brief periods this evening the moon emerged from behind the clouds. I might be a couple of days late for the eclipse, but I still managed to get a nice shot of the moon. The transparency of the atmosphere was pretty good so the distortion on the moon wasn't too bad. I still had to do some work post to bring out the detail (you really want to shoot the moon when its lit from the side to bring out the craters). Maybe I'll see what it looks like as a 13x19 print.

Technical Specs: Canon 1D3, 600 f/4 IS + 1.4x + 2.x TCs (1680mm equiv.), f/11, 1/200s, ISO 1600.

Nice picture! Yeah, it's times like this when I wish I had a little more reach for shooting the moon. My shots of the eclipse were OK, but they aren't suitable for printing at all.

If you combined several of your eclipse shots in one of the many artistics layouts that should be enough to make a nice print. Your results are pretty good and would probably print well.
