Which one?

I love it when I go back to a series of images and discover a new one I like and this is a good example (above). I made a series of images with a Lioness and cub in a tree. I immediately found the one I liked, it was with the Lioness looking directly at us (below). I processed that image and then ignored the rest in the series. That original image, I posted in an entry from about a month ago.

I processed my new find just a little differently and with a tighter crop. There are a couple of things I like better about the new image, most notably the way the cub is looking up at the Lioness. However I still prefer the look of the Lioness from the original. Which do you like better and why?

This is one of the reasons why I like to go back to images I've shot before and take a closer look at the ones I chose not to process right away.

*Very* touch call Aravind, however, I think the shot with the lioness looking in the camera's direction is more engaging.

My eyes immediately snapped to hers. The shot with the cub is engaging in a much more subtle way, but I dont find that look as powerful as the direct look from mama.

I agree, I think the new one with the cub looking up is more subtle but the original draws you in quickly.

Thanks!
