Carmelite Monastery of Carmel from Point Lobos

Carmelite Monastery of Carmel from Point Lobos - Leica S2, 180mm, f/8, 1/125s, ISO 160
I made this image of the Carmelite Monastery in Carmel during a morning shoot at Point Lobos with my friend Eric Chan earlier this spring.  Though our focus was primarily in photographing subjects at Point Lobos, I loved the way the fog and clouds were creating layers over the hills and the Monastery on the opposite side.

I had a complete Leica S2 kit with me that day, so I not wanting to waste an opportunity to use the stellar 180mm APO-Elmar-S lens, I tried to find a framing I liked.  I had to slap on a lot of filtration (about 5 stops if I remember correctly) to get the top part of the image under control.  I also knew that I wanted to bring out the detail in the rocks in the foreground.
