Sofa Mountain Panoramic

Sofa Mountain Panoramic - D800e, 70-200 @ 110mm, f/7.1, 1/125s
The last time I was in Alberta, it was last summer and I went on a road trip with the family and one of our stops was in Pincher Creek near Waterton Lakes National Park.  I drove past this area with a view of this range including Sofa Mountain and returned that evening in the hope of some color; sadly there wasn't much.

Its a beautiful Friday, the weekend is about to start and like this guy I think what I'd like to do the most is take a nap surrounded by trees.

Bicycle and Planter Box

Bicycle and Planter Box - X100s, 35mm equiv., f/5.6, 1/40s, ISO 250
This past week, I was passing through Hamburg again for work and on the short walk to dinner one night spotted this scene.  I don't usually do a lot of street photography but figured this would be a good image to use Analog Efex Pro 2 and take a bit more creative liberty.

Hippo On the Run

Hippo On The Run - 1DX, 200-400 @ 280mm, f/5.6, 1/13s, ISO 800
This hippo surfaced, looked at me a for a bit and then took off running down the opposite bank.  The light was almost gone, it was about 6:45 pm so the only thing to do was drop the shutter speed and hope I could pan the heavy rig smoothly enough to get something workable.

Verreaux's eagle-owl

Verreaux's eagle-owl - 1DX, 200-400 @ 560mm, f/6.3, 1/640s, ISO 1600
The Verreaux's eagle-owl (but pointed out to me as the giant eagle owl) is the largest African owl.  Owls weren't on the top of my list when it came to the fauna I wanted to photograph in Botswana, but I enjoyed photographing the large variety of other non-iconic species as well as the iconic ones.

This is a 19 panel stitch of Risting Glacier at the end of Drygalski Fjord in South Georgia.  This was the closest we got to the glacier and after this point we started cruising back, stopping to the entrance of Larsen Harbor for zodiac cruises.
