Iced Waterfall - 5D3, 400mm, f/32, 1/5s, ISO 100.
Spring is an interesting time South Georgia with conditions changing rapidly. We had two landing at Right Whale Bay, I made this image of this partially frozen waterfall on the first landing. On our second landing about 10 days later (after having circumnavigated the island), the waterfall had thawed out completely and looked dramatically different.

Across Salisbury Plain - 5D3, 70-200 @ 120mm, f/8, 1/500s, ISO 100.
This sums up why I find South Georgia Island alluring and can’t wait to return. Majestic snow capped peaks in the background and groups of King Penguins making their way across the plain. Such an awesome place.

Colony under Snow - RX100, ~30mm, f/8, 1/160s, ISO 125.
This was a landing to see a Macaroni Penguin colony at Cooper Bay (I don’t remember the location exactly). What I do remember is the snow storm and the climb up the hill in the snow. It may not look like it, but being there was incredible, storm and all.

White Out Conditions - 5D3, 70-200 @ 200mm, f/9, 1/100s, ISO 100.
The visibility was so bad during the short snow storm while we were on our landing at Ample Bay that you could barely see even nearby objects. Fortunately the storm only lasted about 5 minutes and then we had fresh powder for the rest of the landing.
