Glacier Remnants - Alpa TC, IQ3 100mp, 23mm, f/11, 5s, ISO 50.
This afternoon we went to Fjallsárlón Glacial Lagoon which is just a few kilometers down the road from the Jökulsárlón. Fjallsárlón doesn’t have an outlet to the ocean, so the icebergs stay in the lagoon with many coming near the shore. I went off in one direction, seeking an interesting composition when I came across this scene. I thought an ultra wide angle would work well and with the water being very still, a long exposure would remove any small ripples. As I was setting everything up I heard the Glacier calve in the distance, a few minutes later the water started receding rapidly. I realized that my calm water was disappearing and very quickly captured this image. Fortunately, the focal piece of ice stayed still enough to be sharp during the 5s exposure, but only for this frame, with subsequent saves it too started moving. In the end, I got lucky as I like what the waves are doing to the ice in the middle ground.
